Memorial Tree Program

The Sevierville Trees/Trails and Beautification Board now offers you two
ways to honor loved ones by placement of trees on public grounds in the City
of Sevierville. Below is a brief summary of each memorial tree
program.
· Permanent Plaque Club- This program offers you the opportunity to pick from one of the three species of trees below and have that tree placed within a park, Greenway or other public space that is available. This program also includes a 4” x 6” marble plaque with two lines available for engraving on the plaque at the base of the tree. In addition, the person’s name being honored will be placed on a plaque in the Community Center lobby and this name will be read aloud at Arbor Day celebration each year, which is normally the last Friday in March annually. The total cost for this program is $200 dollars per memorial. This price includes installation and guaranteed livability of the tree including replacement of the tree if necessary.
· Tree Club- This program offers you the opportunity to pick from one of three species of trees below and have that tree placed at the discretion of the City at a park, Greenway or other public property that is available in the City of Sevierville. Also included in this program is the name of the loved one placed on a plaque in the lobby of the Community Center and their name read aloud at the annual Arbor Day Celebration, which is normally the last Friday of March each year. The cost for this program is $100 dollars per memorial. This price includes installation and guaranteed livability of the tree including replacement of the tree if necessary.
The following trees are approved for planting in area parks:
Deciduous trees (1.5"-2" caliper trunks, 8' tall)
Evergreen tree (min. height-5')
Maple: (Acer species)
Choose from: Red Maple or Sugar Maple
Size: 40'-50' high, 20'-25' wide
Leaf Color: Lustrous dark green leaves during summer and yellow-orange-red-dark amber red in fall.
Oak:
(Quercus species)
Choose from: Pin Oak or Willow Oak
Size: 75' high, 30'-45' wide
Leaf Color: Dark green leaves in summer, golden yellow in fall.
Evergreen Species
Choose from:
White Pine, Norway Spruce or Southern Magnolia
Size: 40'-70' high, 25'-35' wide
Leaf color: Depending on Species, bright to dark green in spring
Special Request for other types of species will be considered, however the City has the final approval.
The Department of Parks and Recreation will order the tree you have selected. We do not recommend planting trees during the extreme hot summer months.
Every effort will be made to place the tree in the park of your choice. However, if conditions warrant, the Department of Parks and Recreation reserves the right to place the tree in the park best suited for the tree.
Parks and Recreation will notify the donor when the tree and plaque are in place and where the tree is located.
