The City of Sevierville Police Department is participating in national “No-Shave November.” For the first time in the ten-year period that the program has existed, SPD officers and staff will be permitted to grow well-groomed beards throughout November.
The goal of No-Shave November is to grow cancer awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow. Employees who choose to participate will pay $25.00 and the money raised will be donated to a cancer program selected by the department.
“Over the past few years, several SPD members, city employees and their family members have been personally affected by cancer,” said SPD Chief Joseph Manning. “Our hope is that we will help raise cancer awareness, save lives and aid those who are fighting this terrible disease.”
