Armed Robbery Reported at Local Jewelry Store

Sevierville Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a reported armed robbery at approximately 9:42AM this morning, Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Jared Vault jewelry store in the Five Oaks Outlet Mall.

According to SPD Detective Milliron, store employees said a woman came into the store just after the store was opened and produced what appeared to be a large caliber black and silver semi-automatic pistol. The suspect ordered two store employees into a back office and tied their hands behind their backs with zip ties, then proceeded back into the store and placed an undisclosed amount of jewelry into a brown shopping bag before leaving. Neither store employee was injured.

The suspect was described as a white female; 25-30 years old; wearing navy blue hospital scrubs; white shoes; gray University of Alabama hat with the mascot elephant on the front and "bama" on the back strap; red hair (possibly a wig); and light brown eyebrows; and carrying a large silver purse.

Authorities are investigating similar armed robberies of jewelry stores in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. The attachments show a picture taken from the Jared Vault security video this morning of the suspect; and a poster with photos and suspect information from a recent Florida armed robbery.
