Dear Residents and Business Owners,

The City of Sevierville takes the safety of our citizens and visitors very seriously. The Sevierville Fire Department provides critical fire and first responder services. Our ability to respond quickly and effectively is crucial. We have long recognized the need to locate a station on the east side of the City where we have experienced tremendous residential and commercial growth. As a result, we are going to build a new headquarters station on Dolly Parton Parkway on the site of the old water treatment plant.

We anticipate construction to start in early 2017. Construction should take about a year. Once we have moved to the new location, the downtown station will be rebuilt and become the city’s third fire station.

The City is raising property taxes from $0.2970 per $100 (our new certified tax rate) to $0.4970 per $100, an increase of 20 cents per $100. (For example, this is an increase of $75 per year on a $150,000 home.) Your increased tax dollars will be used to fund the construction and operation of the main fire station, hiring thirteen additional full-time firefighters and the purchase of a new fire engine.

Thank you for your support and if you would like further information regarding the growth of the fire department, please contact me at (865) 453-9276.

Respectfully,

Matt Henderson
