Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle on Interstate 40

The Sevierville Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 40 yesterday, Sunday, February 21, 2021 at approximately 8:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates that two persons were reportedly walking eastbound on Interstate 40 when one of the persons, a 48-year old woman, was struck by a 2020 Nissan Armada. The woman, who ultimately died, has no known address. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family. The man who was walking with her was uninjured.

The driver of the Nissan Armada, 35-year old Jennifer Stettner of Jonesboro, Tennessee was uninjured.

Interstate 40 east was reduced to one lane until about 10:15 p.m. as emergency personnel responded and investigated.

The investigation is ongoing.
