Partial Temporary Closing of Tennis/Pickleball Courts

Posted 10-18-21.

The City of Sevierville Department of Parks and Recreation announces the temporary closure of four tennis and pickleball courts at Sevierville City Park. From November 1-5, courts 1-4 will be closed to allow for installation of new LED lighting. The remaining four courts will stay open during this installation.

The new lights utilize LED technology provided by MUSCO Sports Lighting, a leading manufacturer of sport lighting equipment in America. The current lights on the courts are almost 30-years old, according to Director of Parks and Recreation Bob Parker.

Mr. Parker also noted the new LED light installation represents Phase I of several major improvements to the courts planned to take place in 2021-2022. Following the Spring 2022 High School tennis season, all eight courts are scheduled for resurfacing and new fencing.

The courts last received new fencing, new asphalt and leveling with new color resurfacing in 2013, which led to recognition as the USTA’s Most improved Public Courts in America Award.
