Truck Availability Causes Brush Collection Delays

Posted 12-08-21.

A lack of specialized brush and junk trucks is resulting in collection delays for City of Sevierville garbage customers. The Public Works Department normally has four knuckleboom trucks that are used to collect brush and junk on a standard schedule, however there is now only one such truck in use. Three trucks are currently unavailable due to needed repairs.

Public Works staff is looking into renting a truck to ease the delays. For the time being, each week employees are concentrating on collecting junk first and then brush as time permits.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to maintain our usual level of service and for that we apologize,” said Public Works Director Bryon Fortner. “We hope to start catching up on brush and junk collection later this month as we get more trucks back on the road.”
