Fire Department Offers CPR/AED and Stop the Bleeding Class

Posted 01-25-18

The Sevierville Fire Department (SFD) is offering citizens an opportunity to become certified in CPR/AED, learn how to control bleeding, and also learn some fire safety tips from the pros.

The SFD classroom-based CPR/AED and Stop the Bleeding class is open to the community and will be held on Saturday, February 10 from 8AM-2PM at Fire Station 1 (main downtown station), 122 Prince Street.

The class fee is $22.00/person (checks payable to the City of Sevierville), which includes all class materials and a certificate.

In this classroom-based course, participants will learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner, and to teach the public how they can control severe bleeding to save themselves and others.

The SFD offers this class to educate providers, caregivers, and the general public on how to respond to certain emergencies. Additionally, increasing public awareness of the importance of early intervention and ensuring greater public access to defibrillation will save many lives.
