Cost Saving LED Lights Installed at Community Center

Posted March 14, 2017

The City of Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department has completed another cost saving project: installation of LED lights in the Community Center.

"This is the second of three LED light projects to be finished," said Bob Parker, Director of Parks and Recreation. "And just like the first project, the new LED lights will save thousands of dollars annually in electric costs." Last year, the Parks and Recreation Department installed LED light fixtures at the Municipal Complex parking areas.

Early last year, an energy audit of the Community Center was completed by the Sevier County Electric System and Tennessee Valley Authority through their Energy Right Solutions program. The audit recommended installation of LED lights throughout the Community Center. Parks and Recreation staff installed the new lights at a total cost of about $18,000.00 and TVA will provide a rebate to the City for $4,000.00.

The City expects the Community Center LED light project costs to be recovered after just the first year of reduced electricity usage.

The third project, which is well underway, involves LED light installation throughout the City's greenway system.
