Join Sevierville as We Rise Up for Parks and Recreation

What: Join Sevierville as We Rise Up for Parks and Recreation
Where: Sevierville, TN
When: July 2022

Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Park and Recreation Month. Created by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Park and Recreation Month specifically highlights the essential and powerful role local park and recreation professionals-such as our staff at the City of Sevierville-play in building stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient communities across the country.

This July, we are bringing attention to how important it is to rise and support the field of parks and recreation, because every day, park and recreation professionals rise for their communities in service of equity, climate-readiness, and overall health and well-being.

In Sevierville, you can celebrate Park and Recreation Month by visiting a park, walking on a greenway, taking your dog for a fun day at the dog park, and going to a playground with your children or grandchildren. Yes, it can be hot in July, so consider taking a visit to our cool indoor bowling center or a swim at one of our swimming pools. And finally, the City encourages everyone to appreciate the fact that the Sevierville Community Center will be 40-years old on July 21, 2022. The Community Center opened on July 21, 1982.

“July is the perfect time to share how our park and recreation professionals in Sevierville rise up for members of the community and provide essential services,” said Director, Bob Parker. “We encourage everyone in Sevierville to come rise up for parks and recreation with us this July.” The City of Sevierville is leading initiatives and providing opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and identities to achieve healthier lifestyles, promote and understand nature and environmental resilience, as well as bringing the community closer through a variety of programs and services. The City challenges our citizens and visitors to try something different and get out of their comfort zones. Sevierville’s offerings are true to the departments tag line….
