Annual K-9 Team Street Survival School in the Smokies

The Sevierville Police Department is hosting this specialized K-9 Handlers Street Survival School which will feature K-9 instructors and trainers Matt Forsyth and Dan Cliff. This seminar is designed to enhance K-9 team proficiency at basic and advanced levels with a focus on patrol and narcotics detection. The most advanced techniques and methods in law enforcement K-9 patrol and narcotic detection will be discussed and demonstrated. The seminar has been approved by the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission at 40 hours of in-service training. Registration will be limited to 50 K-9 teams and observers on a first-come, first served basis.

Accommodations

Affordable lodging is available at Oak Tree Lodge and Five Oak Convention Center in Sevierville. The motel is located at 1620 Parkway and dogs are welcome to stay in the rooms. Rooms are available at a rate of $66.00. If you have a tax exempt status you must bring the completed Tennessee tax exempt form with you for the motel. You must mention the seminar when making reservations to obtain the special room rate.

Rooms not booked will be released on November 2, 2019. Attendees are not required to stay at the host hotel. However, several area motels will not allow animals in rooms so if you plan to make reservations at another hotel, please inquire if they allow animals in rooms. Reservations for accommodations are the sole responsibility of the attendee and we would urge you to make room reservations as soon as possible. Registration Fee

Registration fees for the seminar are $300.00 per K-9 team, which includes the dog and handler. The fee includes one Lunch, T-shirt, and door prizes. Each observer or helper will also be charged a registration fee of $300.00. All registration fees MUST be received by November 26, 2018. Confirmation will be mailed upon receipt of registration. PCAA certifications will be offered at no charge. NNDDA Patrol Certification and NNDDA Narcotic Certification will be offered at this school and the fees for these certifications are $30.00 for membership (1 year) and $25.00 for each certification. The total amount is $80.00 ($30.00 membership, $25.00 Patrol Certification, $25.00 Narcotic Certification). The check for these fees should be made payable to National Narcotic Detector Dog Association, 379 C. R. 105, Carthage, TX 75633. This check should be given to the NNDDA official on the first day of the school.

 Date-Location-Time

The seminar will be held December 2 – December 6, 2019, in Sevierville, TN. Registration will be December 3, 2018 from 8:00am to 9:00am at the Sevierville Police Department. Sevierville is located 30 miles east of Knoxville approximately 8 miles from I-40 at the 407 exit. The city is serviced by several major highways and is in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountain tourism area. The Sevierville Police Department is located at 300 Gary Wade Blvd. just off Dolly Parton Parkway (US 411) adjacent to the Sevierville Community Center and Civic Center. McGhee-Tyson Airport is serviced by several major carriers and is located approximated 15 miles south of Knoxville. The airport is easily accessible to Interstate 40.
