Beer Permits

Persons wishing to sell, store for sale, distribute for sale, or manufacture beer within the city must obtain a pdf permit (3.07 MB) from the City Beer Board. This process starts by obtaining an application for a pdf beer permit (3.07 MB) and a copy of the  pdf City Beer Ordinance (2.94 MB) online or from the City Recorder’s office.

This pdf application (3.07 MB) must be filled out, notarized, and then returned to the City Recorder’s office with payment of a $500 non-refundable application fee. Prior to fee payment, an applicant should review the various requirements related to the sale of beer. The pdf application (3.07 MB) , a background check, and verification of requirements outlined in the pdf beer ordinance (2.94 MB) are compiled by the City Recorder's office, who schedules a meeting of the Beer Board. The City of Sevierville Beer Board tentatively meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Sevierville Civic Center located at 130 Gary Wade Boulevard, Sevierville, Tennessee. Applications are due by the 4th Friday of each month to be considered for the following month’s Beer Board agenda.

Due to processing and public notice requirements, pdf beer permit applications (3.07 MB) must be received by the 4th Friday of the month for consideration during the following month. Beer Board meetings are generally called on the 3rd Monday of the month.

The Beer Board considers the pdf application (3.07 MB) and either grants or refuses a permit according to compliance with the pdf City Beer Ordinance (2.94 MB) . Compliance issues include:

  • Zoning of establishment
  • Minimum seating for on-premise permit

Active permit holders are subject to an annual $100 privilege tax, prorated for the first year and payable in January of each subsequent year.
