Sidewalk replacement planned on Henderson Avenue for ADA compliance beginning July 21

Posted 07-18-25.

The City of Sevierville Public Works Department will begin a sidewalk replacement project on Henderson Avenue beginning Monday, July 21, as part of the City’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan. The project involves removing and replacing the existing sidewalk with a new ADA-compliant sidewalk to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety.

Work will take place in three phases:
•Phase 1: Eastgate Road to Railroad Street-July 21 to August 8
•Phase 2: Railroad Street to the Food City/Post Office access road-August 4 to August 22
•Phase 3: Food City access road to US 411/SR 35/Dolly Parton Parkway-August 18 to September 5.

Construction will occur from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily through August 5, then shift to 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to reduce traffic disruptions during school and peak traffic hours.

A single-lane closure will be in place during work hours and traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns and minor delays, and stay alert for workers, pedestrians and construction equipment in the area.

This project supports the City’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and ensure safe, accessible pathways for all residents and visitors.
