Drinking Water Warning/Boil Advisory Rescinded 07/15/22 2:45 p.m. - OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Sevierville Water Systems drinking water warning/boiling advisory has been rescinded. All water testing has been negative for harmful contaminants. The advisory had been in effect for all City of Sevierville Water System customers, and Sevier County Water System customers in the following areas: Sims Road, Flat Creek, Allensville, Lane Hollow, Thomas Cross Road, Boyds Creek, and Jayell Road. The water treatment plant is operating normally at this time, including the release of treated water into the system.

What happened?

The severe storms and flash flooding on July 12 carried significant debris to the water treatment plant intake in the early morning hours of July 13th. The debris caused blockage of intake filters and disrupted plant operation capabilities.

Out of an abundance of caution due to areas that lost water pressure, a drinking water warning/boil advisory was issued at approximately 8:00 a.m. on July 14, 2022.  Water Systems employees cleaned the intake filters and restored water system distribution. Numerous water tests were conducted and on Friday, July 15, 2022 all tests were negative for harmful contaminants. In consultation with TDEC and Sevier County Health Dept.,

The advisory was rescinded on Friday, July 15 at 2:45 p.m.
