Blalock Natatorium/Pool at Sevierville Community Center Closure Extended

The Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department has extended closure of the Blalock Natatorium/Pool at the Sevierville Community Center through June 21, 2022. The closure is necessary to perform maintenance. The natatorium is now scheduled to reopen at 6:00 a.m. on June 22.

City of Sevierville Reminds Residents/Visitors That Shooting Fireworks Is Not Permitted

With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, the City of Sevierville would like to remind residents and visitors that shooting fireworks without a permit is not permitted within the City limits. This ordinance is in effect throughout the year. Sevierville Fire Chief Matt Henderson and Police Chief Joe Manning say that while they want residents and visitors to enjoy the holiday, they hope it will be celebrated in a safe manner. They note that fireworks are banned in the City because of the potential dangers of personal injury and fires.

Parks and Recreation Hike to Gregory Bald

The Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a hike to Gregory Bald via Gregory Ridge and Gregory Bald Trails, on Thursday, June 23. This guided hike is FREE and limited to ten participants. Participants must be at least 18-years old and provide their own transportation to a meeting place to be determined.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Milling Tonight on Church Street and Joy Street

Road surface milling planned this evening on Church Street and Joy Street, 7:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. Traffic will be maintained, short delays are possible. Repaving will be scheduled later this week.

2022 Sevierville Pickleball Classic Doubles Tournament (Non-Sanctioned) Registration Open

With the completion of the resurfacing of the tennis/pickleball courts at City Park, the Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department will begin offering small pickleball tournaments.

The department will be hosting a men’s and women’s doubles pickleball tournament on Saturday, July 23. Registration will be open through July 15. To guarantee a tournament t-shirt, registration must be received by July 1. Participants must have a partner at registration; no matching will be allowed the day of the tournament.

BMA Workshop Scheduled on June 6

The City of Sevierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen has scheduled a workshop on Monday, June 6, 2022. The workshop will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Sevierville Civic Center, 130 Gary Wade Boulevard, Sevierville, TN. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss East Sevierville Park, a Traffic System update, and other items as needed.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Temporary Downtown Road and Parking Lot Closures for Special Event

The downtown Municipal Parking Lot and a section of Bruce Street, from the Parkway to the Municipal Parking Lot exit, will be closed for a special event Saturday, June 4, from 2:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. The Sevierville Commons Association will be sponsoring “Shine and Dine on Bruce.”

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Fred C. Atchley Bridge Maintenance

The City of Sevierville Street Department has issued a traffic advisory for the Fred C. Atchley Bridge on Highway 66. The bridge spans the Little Pigeon River.

The work will take place June 8-9, from 11:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. each night. The bridge rail cleaning will require right travel lane closures in both directions will work is ongoing. Motorists should watch for changing traffic patterns and be aware of workers and equipment in the area.

SPD Officers Attend Crisis Intervention Training

Several SPD officers, along with officers from Newport PD, Sevier County SO, Pigeon Forge PD, Gatlinburg PD, Sevier County Probation and Sevier County Corrections, attended a 40-hour Crisis Intervention Training class last week. CIT is designed to train officers on how to best respond to mental health crisis events and on deescalating techniques.

REVISED SCHEDULE: Tennis/Pickleball Courts To Close For Maintenance

The closure of the tennis/pickleball courts at City Park originally planned to begin on June 1, will now begin Wednesday, May 18. The change is necessary to accommodate the contractor’s schedule. The work is weather dependent and may take two-four weeks to complete.

Officers Find One Person Dead During Welfare Check

SPD officers went to a residence on Jasmine Trail at approximately 2:14 p.m. this afternoon, Friday, May 13, 2022 on a welfare check. An adult male living at the residence had failed to show-up for scheduled interviews with law enforcement officers.
